Dr Nakicenovic added that, if oil and gas began to run out, "there's a huge amount of coal underground that could be exploited". The Gulf countries - Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates - produce about 25 per cent of the world's oil at the moment, and hold 65 per cent of the world's oil reserves. I really don't know why people are so concerned about what will happen when oil should run out in Dubai. Dubai does not rely on oil! Oil just makes around 6% of Dubai's wealth and years ago already Dubai focussed on foreign investment, tourism, finance, etc. The oil is in Abu Dhabi and not Dubai. Please don't worry, Dubai will be just fine. What will happen when the Gulf countries' oil runs out? Rich gulf countries are being warned that the future is bleak unless they diversify and become less reliant on oil.
